| Deathwatch There's another movie that's coming out with the same title as this, but there is no relation. I first heard about this movie about a year ago after reading news on it. It sounded pretty interesting, so I jumped at the chance when I was able to get it on Region 3 DVD. I expected more from this, but it wasn't bad overall. The story takes place in the middle of WWI and follows a group of British soldiers caught behind enemy lines. They are forced to take refuge in an old, thought to be abandoned, German trench. It doesn't take long before the men begin to go crazy once they realize they might not be alone in that trench. The first 45 mins of the film is basically just like a war drama. We don't realize it's a horror film until a little after when the men start hearing things and soon start going crazy with the thought that the trench might be haunted by the dead German soldiers. The movie really plays with the audiences head as well by making them think whether what they see in the movie is real or if it's all in the soldiers head. I didn't find the movie scary, but it was pretty interesting from the start. I was just expecting more horror from it. I guess it was more story and performance-driven than anything. Speaking of performances, it was interesting to see Jamie Bell in the film, because he was the dancing wuss in Billy Elliot. Now he's just a wussy soldier.I would have given the movie a higher-rating, but it took a little too long to get into the "horror" side of things, and I was expecting a lot more from it. I have no idea when this movie is coming to the US, but I'm sure that whenever it does it'll just go direct-to-video. OVERALL Comments page 0 of 0:
