| Filthy I caught this film after receiving a copy for review from one of the directors. Apparently the horror short has received a number of awards in various festivals, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Now those of you who've read a number of my reviews already must know that I'm keen to flicks involving city-folk crossing paths with deadly locals, whether it be in the woods or some deserted area. That being said, it was natural that I would enjoy this flick since it has the same theme that I enjoy, but with an inner city twist. I never thought that a family of an obviously redneck and inbred background be living in the city, but in this movie they do. The story follows an eager reporter as she hopes to finally have her big break and trample her competition during a mass city riot by covering the story. With the wrong location, she gets nothing more than some fire and remnants of a once populated street. With little hope and the intent on giving up, she and her camera man call it a night. That is until a strange man violently attacking a woman. The reporter follows the man as he leaves the scene and returns home. The reporter naively follows inside and becomes the new victim of the inbred family. She's then subjected to torture and emotional distress as they gag and attempt to recreate the infamous dinner scene in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This movie obviously has its faults, but be-it that it's a cheesy horror short that clearly isn't made to be something original, its okay with me. It's obvious from the number of dark humor that this isn't a movie that takes itself seriously and a movie that pokes fun at itself is a good movie to me. Considering the low-production value the movie still managed to entertain, which was initially going to led me to give it a 7-rating, but I felt that was "too strong" and settled on a 6, which is still a good rating in my opinion.
