Godsend

I always thought this movie looked fairly decent, and pretty much knew what to expect from it before actually viewing it, so luckily I wasn't entirely disappointed after seeing it. The film has a good cast, but sadly it's so slow-paced that there are many scenes that just seem to drag on.

The story follows a young couple as they make a deal with a geneticist (Robert DeNiro) who claims to be able to make an exact duplicate of their son, who died tragically in a freak accident. Of course the distraught couple refuses at first, but then clings to the idea when they realize how much they miss their son. The procedure works and we briefly follow the kid grow up to become the old 8-year-old boy they had before. Although once after he 8th birthday (when the original died) he begins changing. Apparently the spirit of the old boy doesn't take kindly to being replaced.

As I expected, this is a decent flick, but nothing special. It has an original idea, but the execution could have used a lot more work. Like I said before, the pace is too slow, and we only get a few specific scenes that show that it is still somewhat a horror flick. When the movie finally ended I didn't feel fulfilled. I felt more could have been done, and I really didn't like the seemingly out-of-place ending. In the end it ends up being a simply mediocre flick, with a good cast and interesting, but slow-paced, story.

OVERALL

A decent watch, but nothing special. Not much for scares or action, but if you're looking for an interesting story with a good cast, then give it a shot, but don't expect much.
