Halloween: Resurrection

I knew when I first read the plot for this film that it wouldn't be very good, but I still saw this film with an open mind and sure-enough, I was let down. Michael has changed so much from the previous films and now he just doesn't look the same anymore. All I have to say is that at least he looks better than he did in H20, but it still doesn't change the fact that he seems to look "cleaner" than he used to. Not to mention his hands don't appear to be burnt, like they should have been. Then again, if things made sense enough to show the burns they might as well have acknowledged the fact that he should be blind as well since his eyes were shot out in the second film. Oh well. Let’s just assume that Michael not only cannot die, but can also regenerate himself.

The movie starts off with Busta Rhymes gathering a bunch of College students to be invited to a live web-broadcast within the Myers house. The intention would be to possibly find clues as to why Michael went crazy and killed his family. Things seem fine for a while after they've entered the house, but it doesn't take long before Michael decides to take matters into his own hands and kill'em off. I never liked the whole idea of this web-broadcast, because it seemed to stupid and had really nothing to do with the Halloween series. I doubt this is the last in the series, but I honestly hope it is, because they seriously are running out of ideas. It's not about killing his family members anymore. At least with Jason X they took a different non-serious approach to the series, where in this film they took it too serious and failed. At least in my opinion they did.

It wasn't as suspenseful as some people have made it out to be and I found absolutely no scares what-so-ever. I was fairly disappointed in that. The only thing I did like about the movie was maybe the first 10-15 minutes of it, when Michael and Laurie encounter each other in the mental institution. Another thing I would have to say that I liked would be the body count and maybe a few of the deaths. It had some decent deaths and an interesting concept was brought up towards the end, but it was a disappointment overall. I don't know what is up with these recent horror films and rappers, but for some reason at least one rapper has to take place in a recent theatrical horror movie. I wasn't too into Busta Rhymes being in the film from the start, but at least he wasn't as bad as I thought he would be. His acting was decent and Tyra Banks didn't really have a large role in the film either, but that's a good thing.

Hollywood needs to wake up and ditch the clichéd high school/college kids and rappers thing in these horror films and start really focusing on more of a story. I guess that won’t happen for a while. I wanted to give the movie a higher-rating, but I just couldn't. I found myself bored in parts and it just wasn't entertaining enough. A let down in the series, but like I said before, at least it's better than H20 was. I thought it was pretty funny that I heard Janet Jackson playing in the background during a certain part of the film. I never thought I'd hear a Janet Jackson song in a Halloween movie. I don't think it's in the theatrical cut though. I also noticed a small kids song that was played during a couple scenes of the film that is also the main song in the Dario Argento film, Deep Red; A very catchy song.

I believe there are two endings to this film. The theatrical ending and alternate ending are very similar, but take place in a different setting and have slight differences. At least from what I know anyway. This film was originally subtitled "Homecoming," but they changed it to Resurrection, because they wanted to make it apparent that Michael was back and better than ever, or something like that.

OVERALL

A slight step-up the previous film, but still not much of an improvement. Lame cast and story. and no scares. To top it off Michael looked funny with all his black makeup behind his mask. Good watch if you're a fan of the series, but I personally didn't really like it as much as I wanted.

This movie....well...lets face it. IT SUCKED!
H20 was much better than this....and it should have stopped there. I thought maybe, since she sliced off his head in the H20 it would be over and finally some killed the little....anyway...
Why? Why!? Bring another sequal to the already over used idea of M. Myers. Don't get me wrong...the first what 50 movies were good?? It all pretty much died after about the 4th one or so. Why? It just got to old. Except the third...im sorry that was horrible and I know it shouldnt have had the Halloween name to it at all, thats not why it sucked.
But I will stand to say that the origional Halloween was one of the scariest movies ever made.

H20 was soooooo much better than this, at least it felt more like the first film. I'd rather they made a prequel after H20 than this, explaining where and what Michaels been doing the past 20 years just hiding under his house was retarded and Michael didn't seem like himself anymore, he took shit from Busta Ryhmes and walked off!!! He should've been brutally stabbed to death the same with LL Cool J in H20. Extremley mediocre film barely a Halloween film.

I did like the beginning when Michael and Lori were in the hospital, but other than that, I really hated this movie; probably the worst out of the entire series. I’d give it a 2/10

having rappers in any kind of horror movie just kills it ...having myers walk away from that piece of crap left me wondering ...why? ...he should have ripped his face of while stabbing him.

EASILY the weakest in the series yet. *SPOLIER* I thought that Laurie's death was a complete waste; It seemed so weak and unesscesary. Bah!

pathetic as a horror movie but not bad if you just want to kick back with some friends and watch a movie you can make fun of the whole way through. the more sequels they do to halloween the more ridiculous they get and the less i like that. the original and numbers 4 and 5 were my personal favorites and even they had faults but this one doesn't stand up to the earlier films in any way.
