Hellraiser: Inferno

I finally got a chance to see this film and I’m somewhat surprised at how it turned out. What makes this film stand out from all the other Hellraiser films is that Pinhead is shown only in certain scenes and is not the main character. A lot of people don't like the film because of that, but I thought it worked pretty well. We have to remember that the first Hellraiser didn't revolve around Pinhead. It revolved around the guy who escaped the Cenobites. The films just evolved to Pinhead over time.

Anyway, there are some freaky scenes here and there, but nothing really major. It all depends on how easy you get scared. There are a few new Cenobites that weren't very impressive. I was hoping to see more Cenobite-action, but that's not what this film was about, so. Instead, the whole film revolves around the detective and his descent into madness as he sees weird visions all around him. The gore wasn't bad, but there wasn't as much as I thought there would be. The special effects were very nice, considering this film went straight to video.

I was a little confused about the climax at first, but it didn't take me long to figure it out. I think if you only want to see this film just to see Pinhead, then you'd be very disappointed, but if you wanted to see an interesting movie that takes the Hellraiser series to a different direction, then you might enjoy it. They had a few close ups of Pinheads face and I must say that he's gotten old. I guess even demons have to age; poor Doug Bradley.

OVERALL

See this film if you enjoy the series and not just Pinhead. Otherwise, skip it.
