| House of the Dead 2: Dead Aim Considering the first film was fairly crappy, it came to a surprise to a lot of people that there were plans of a sequel. The fact that Uwe Boll wasn't returning to direct made it already seem like a better movie. Now, having seen the film I have to say that it's not much of an improvement from the previous crap. With a smaller budget than its predecessor, the film plays out more like a SciFi Movie Premiere than a direct-to-DVD release; having said that, surprise, surprise! The movie is getting a premiere on the SciFi channel in February. Although, all the nudity in the beginning and certain gore scenes probably wont make it on the small-screen, but the cheesy quality of the movie will remain intact (still not a good thing). However, It's always good to see a zombie movie, even if it's not a good one, so from the start the film had potential of being half-way decent. With the B-grade actors, and a interesting, but incredibly short cameo by Sid Haig, the film fails to be much better than Uwe Boll's disasterpiece. Despite rumors of the plot revolving around special government operatives investigating the zombie island and the events in and around the house of the first film, this movie actually takes place in and around a college campus. The setting alone cries out for cheesiness and that's exactly what we get. Apparently Sid Haig's character was some crazy scientist that wanted to create a chemical for eternal life, using one of the zombies from the island as the source. Naturally he failed to contain the virus after injecting it into a corpse and got himself bit. Eventually the virus spreads throughout the campus, infecting all the students, thus, a couple zombie hunters and an elite squad of commandos joins forces to put a stop to the virus and attempt to find a way to cure by hunting down the source. The blood and gore in this movie isn't bad, and the look for some of the zombies were decent, but the movie really isn't anything fans haven't already seen. I have to admit that the film is an interesting watch for late-night-TV-viewing if there's nothing else on or maybe if you got your buddy to use his money on a rental DVD at the local video store, but I wouldn't bother seeing this otherwise. OVERALL Comments page 1 of 1:
