The Intruder Within

I really didn't know much, if anything, about this movie before seeing it, but it sounded a bit interesting. I believe it was aired on television back in the 80s, which would explain the lack of foul language and nudity. The movie rips off many other films, especially the Alien films. There's a scene where the new species is shown as a baby and it looks a lot like the alien that popped out of that guy's chest in the first film. After the creature is grown up it looks somewhat similar to the Alien in the Alien films. What a rip.

The plot is just about these workers working for an oil company, who live on this rig in the middle of the ocean searching for oil. A machine gathers stuff deep on the ocean floor and it ends up getting these rock-like things, which turn out to be eggs of a very old dominant species that survived for years under the ocean. The rest is easy to figure out. The effects for the movie weren't too bad -- average coming from a TV-movie in the 80s. The plot isn't too original and the acting and directing is okay. It kept my interest somewhat, which made me give the film the 3-rating. Though, like many other films, it did have quite a few plot-holes; whackass made-for-TV movies.

OVERALL

A decent watch on TV, like it was originally meant to be, but not worth renting. Just a ripoff of the Alien films. Don't bother with this.
