The Laughing Dead

With a title like "The Laughing Dead" one would assume that the movie naturally wouldn't be good and that's exactly right; this sucked. It starts off with a priest setting up a trip to an archeological dig and somehow a bunch of strangers join. They go to Mexico for the dig and once they get there a bunch of weird stuff happens -- like for instance, a priest ends up getting possessed by some "god of death" and kills off some of the people in the trip. They are all then locked in a small motel with the guy. I guess the director wanted to save the best for last, because towards the end of the film the group of people somehow end up playing a game of basketball with the zombies. Who knew zombies could actually play a good game of b-ball?

The movie is just very badly written and contains many plot-holes. We get to see the zombies later on in the film, but they are nothing special. They look really dumb and we don't see them much anyway. I don't know why this movie was even called "Laughing Dead", because I expected a lot of laughing zombies or something, but of course the only person laughing was me at the unintentionally hilarious scenes. The only thing I liked about this was the fact that it had a decent amount of cheesy gore and it was just generally fun to laugh at. I have no idea if this was meant to be somewhat of a comedy, but most of the movie was funny. I guess I was just laughing at the plot and the acting, which I suppose is why they gave it a title like "The Laughing Dead". Would have given the movie a lower-rating, but I liked some of the gore.

OVERALL

Hardly even a zombie film. The movie has a really silly plot and lots of the scenes are quite laughable. Don't bother checkin' this.
