This movie was once listed on UHM some time ago (I think when indie flicks were listed) and I lost track of it until recently, when I heard of Anchor Bay's Digimax DVD edition. I was surprised that such an indie flick would get a high quality DVD, but once I finished viewing the movie, I knew why. This is an indie flick, but it really doesn't look or seem like one. The acting is fairly solid and the story is actually quite interesting.

I really liked the concept of the movie, because instead of just being about the usual young punks lookin' to score and get drugged up, it's about bank robbers holding up in an abandoned house. Of course they had no idea that it had a dark secret and a killer roaming around. Although the concept isn't entirely original (Scarecrow) it is still cool none-the-less. The movie is an obvious throwback of the slasher flicks to come out of one of horror's greatest decades -- the 80s. The killer is like a mixture of Jason Voorhees (when he was still confined to wearing that dumbass bag over his head) and a stealthy Michael Myers. Hell, even the music was a mixture of the two. I think I liked this movie, because I went in not expecting much, and of course, I'm a big fan of 80's slashers.

I think if this movie had a slightly bigger budget that we would have been treated with some sweet gory deaths, which is what I personally think this movie is lacking of.

OVERALL

A surpisingly good indie flick that's a throwback of 80's slashers
. Worth a rent.

I liked this movie the first time I saw it....when it was called Halloween! This film is not bad, but any fan of horror movies has already seen this film a number of times already. This film will not only bring up memories of Halloween, but Friday the 13th, Scarecrows, The Burning and The Town that Dreaded Sundown will also come quickly to mind. The film tries to add its own touch with the music and an ending twist which was not telegraphed too much. As the site's review concludes, "A throwback of 80's slashers; worth a rent."
