My Little Eye

It took me a while to get around checking this movie, but I remember hearing a lot of talk about how it's "scary" and stuff from numerous people. Having seen the movie, I dunno what the hell those wusses were talkin' about, because the movie is barely even a "horror" flick. Though, it's still an interesting watch if you've seen a lot of those reality shows like Big Brother or the Real World on MTV.

The story is basically about these five strangers who agree to spend six months with each other in a remote cabin while having every action they make videotaped and broadcasted live via the internet. After their six months has ended they get a cash reward of $1 million. Of course things don't go exactly as planned and people end up dead.

This is a good thriller, but it's not a horror flick. There are some moments that might give some people chills considering there were a lot of scenes that involved strange noises at night, but personally I didn't think there was anything scary about it at all. This movie is obviously a twisted take on the popular live UK reality show Big Brother, so a lot of dif cameras were used to show the picture. At times we'd get the whole Blair Witch-type deal and then we'd get the small-camera night-vision camera and a regular camera and so on. It made things interesting and at times made me feel like I was watchin' the broadcast.

I liked how the movie didn't spend so much time introducing the characters or showing how they interact with each other in the beginning of their stay in the cabin. Once they get their the film is sped up until we reach the point towards the end where they have only a couple weeks left of their stay. At this point we start watching the movie as it is and we've already established that the characters all know each other quite well since they've lived with each other for months already.

Paranoia sets in when people start dying and the question that there may be a killer within' the group or a killer outside the group. The movie is pretty interesting, but far from what I initially expected. I was thinking it was going to lean more towards the supernatural, but that wasn't the case. Things started to get a little predictable towards the end and the ending was a little different than one would expect, which made me like the movie a little more.

OVERALL

A decent UK flick. Interesting, though unoriginal, story. Worth a check, but don't expect any scares.
