| New Year's Evil I love it when I watch a flick and discover that it's a lot better than I expected. Such is the case with New Year's Evil, a film that I remember passing up at the VHS rack many times growing up. I always assumed that I had already seen it before, so I never rented it. I finally got my hands on the movie recently and to my surprise, it turned out to be a pretty decent slasher. I'd even go as far as calling it a "hidden gem" of sorts.
The only problem I had with the movie had to be some of the plot-holes, especially as it was nearing the climax. When the truth behind certain characters and the reasoning behind the murders was revealed it seemed a little questionable and sloppy, to me anyway. It didn't harm the movie too much as to say it was too distracting or necessarily bad, which is why I decided that a 6-rating was best fitted for it. OVERALL

I have been wanting to see this again for a while now!! I really liked it as a kid!
Is it just me or does the front cover of this look slightly like the cover of Clockwork Orange? With the killer holding the knife like that.
pretty good flick, didn't care for the ending though.
Great little movie. Saw this when it was first released in the 80's with my Dad...the best time for movies ever. A little side note to any metal heads out there, the band that is in the movie playing at the Televised New Year's Party is total metal. They look like punk but they kick ass...check out the song, somewhere in the middle of the movie, it's almost thrash metal...totally PRE-dating thrash metal. Great stuff! I'll be pulling it out for my New Year's Party like I do every year....great, great party movie. Definitely recommended. :)
