Piranha

I heard a lot of positive reviews for this film and I was surprised to find that a lot of people, including my friends had already seen the film. Feeling left out, I decided to get my hands on the film and check it out myself and I'm glad I did, because I found it quite enjoyable. So, two teens go missing and a woman is hired to search for them. She meets up with a man who lives in a cabin in the woods and they both go searching for the teens. For one reason or another, they end up releasing genetically-altered piranhas into a stream that leads into a public resort. Now they have to stop them before it's too late.

I thought the film was quite enjoyable, because it had a nice comedic-horror mood to it. The plot is simple and the directing and effects weren't too bad. I really liked the fact that it wasn't too .predictable, especially towards the end. The movie reminded me of Jaws in parts and the piranhas were like a bunch of little sharks swimming around in the water. I would have given the movie a higher-rating, but the lead female character was very annoying, especially in the beginning. I also have to take some points off, due to the lack of originality, but then again the movie did come out in the late 70's so.

OVERALL

Good film to check if you're into animal-attack horror movies. Enjoyable and interesting, just watch with an open mind.
