Evil When I first read about this movie a long time ago I had low expectations because it was around the time they fired Romero, because they didn't like his script and then when I read the new plot I didn't really like it. After I first saw the trailer my expectations grew a little higher. It didn't look too bad, but the scene where the Alice character does that slow-motion kick to the dog always seemed too silly. Either way, I knew that when I finally watched the movie that I'd enjoy it and, sure enough, I did. It starts off pretty quickly with someone stealing the t-virus and then unleashing it into the air vent of the lab infecting everyone inside immediately. Fast forward a little and we're introduced to a Special Forces unit whose job is to destroy the lab and the Alice character played by the very hot Milly Jovovich. There are many scenes where she's practically naked. Well anyway, the movie just gets better and better from there. There were a few plot-holes, but they were soon forgotten when I saw the zombies on screen. This is the first zombie movie I've seen at the theatres, so I was quite pleased seeing the living dead walking about on a huge ass screen rather than my 27 inch TV. The special effects were pretty good. The atmosphere was dark and the directing was done well. I knew the director of Event Horizon would give this movie some hope, just wasn't too sure until now. The look for the zombies were Romero-like, mixed with some computer graphics here and there. It was the first time I ever saw computer graphics mixed in with the look of the zombies; was quite interesting. Still, nothing beats the old gory effects for the classic zombie films. The zombies moved pretty fast and were easily killed by snappin’ their necks or the usual shot in the head. Was good to see the movie didn't just have zombies because we get to see zombie-like dogs and the infamous licker creature made famous in the old RE games. The super computer, better known as the Red Queen, got a little annoying over time and so did those pop-up scares that we usually see. The first couple times is nice and all, but I think they really played it out. I would have given the movie a higher rating, but due to the plot-holes and some annoyances I had to just settle with an 8. It's still a damn good rating. I thought the way the film ended was perfect and was one of the best endings I've ever seen in a horror movie. Somewhat of a homage to Romero and leaves it open for the sequel. So far they are already working on the second film, with Milla's character in Raccoon City where she will encounter the Nemesis creature. Hopefully this will also mean that she will meet up with the S.T.A.R.S. members; very cool. OVERALL Comments page 1 of 1:
who is Alice? and Matt Addison? who are they? they piss me! where did they come from? why are these two in this film? who's responsible for putting them in this movie? As Far As I Know: In the First BIOHAZARD That Was Released in 1996. Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield Were the Two Heroes. -the title should be changed to Wrong Turn. yeah! Wrong Turn. it fits.
great movie but it there is too much alice more zombies
ohhh claire remember me lol
This movie was f**king awesome, loved every minute of it. The story was great and so was the action. I love watching this movie with the commentary on, its funny. I also love to watch this movie every halloween night.
While this movie may have turned off much of the game fan base because it does not follow the game..., On its own the movie is fantastic. The 2 sequels (in and attempted to be more faithfull to the Resident Evil game series) leave alot of plot holes and jumps in logic.
Eh, so-so. A 6/10. I though "apocolypse" was just a little better. Maybe extinction will be even slightly better still!
"Resident Evil" is one of the great video games and still is to this very day. The adaptaion of game to films was not as good as I had hoped it would be. The film would of have been so much better if it took place in the mansion the whole time like in the game and featured the characters that were in the first game. Don't get me wrong this is still a fun film to watch, but it should of have been more like the game. I did like the "Cereibus" dogs. They were very badass just like in the game.
awesome movie and great effects
I thought this movie wuz f****** awesome.I liked Apocolypse a little better and can't wait fof extinction
