The Outing

This movie kind of reminded me of Wishmaster, mainly because of the similarities between the whole thing about the jinn and stuff. Wishmaster is a little better though. It starts off when these guys go to an old woman's house looking for money and end up finding an old lamp. Next thing you know it, they release the genie inside and get their asses killed. The lamp is then transported to a museum where an archeologist’s daughter releases the genie from the lamp. The genie takes over her body for a while and convinces her friends to stay the night at the museum. They go along with it and well, you probably know how the rest goes.

This whole film was predictable. Nothing was a surprise to me. The effects were incredibly lame and so was the acting. This is your basic 80s horror film that isn't a slasher. There were scenes in this movie that resembled the scenes in Evil Dead, where the unseen evil is flying around the cabin and woods. The genie itself looked very cheap and it probably would have been a lot better if they just kept the genie looking like this green mist that was shown through most of the film. I did find the film interesting to watch even though I knew what was going to happen every step of the way. That's mainly why I decided to give it a 3-rating. It wasn't exactly good and it was at the border line of being bad. As usual I was hoping for more blood and gore. There was a little nudity in it though, for those of you who like that. I guess they had to throw in some tits to make up for the film being crappy.

OVERALL

This film could have been better. It had some resemblence to Wishmaster. I don't recommend this film, but if you have nothing else to watch, you might as well check this out.
