Trick
or Treats
Lets not get this film confused with the
other 80s movie with a similar name, Trick or Treat. This was incredibly
boring. I didn't know much about it before seeing it; so once again, I
wasn't sure what I was getting myself into. If I knew it was going to
be this lame and boring I wouldn't have bothered. The movie starts off when a man is hauled away by workers
from a mental institution. He stays there for years until one day he decides
to escape. He manages to get out and goes back home to find and kill his
wife who put him in the institution in the first place. When he returns
home he doesn't realize that his wife is out at a party and a babysitter
and little boy are the only ones inside. They are forced to fend off against
him.
What makes the movie so boring is the fact that over an
hour of it is basically just the little boy playing tricks on the babysitter.
I never knew someone could be so damn gullible to fall for the tricks
so many times. I felt like I was watching America’s Funniest Home
Video's, minus the annoying host and stupid audience laughter. You'd never
think it was a horror film for the first hour, aside from the fact that
the mental patient has a knife and kills a person or two. On the somewhat, plus-side, the movie had two famous faces,
David Carradine from the Kung-Fu series and Steve Railsback from Ed Gein.
Not a real fan of other of their work and they barely had a performance
in this film, but it's always good to see famous faces in old horror films.
On that note, the movie had some decent acting, considering their stupid
dialogue.
The plot of
the movie is filled with plot-holes, like the fact that the only thing
the mental patient had to do to escape was to steal a worker's clothes
and dress up as a woman. There are barely any deaths in the
movie, which really pissed me off, so you can guess that there's zero
gore and scares. I would have given the movie a lower-rating, but I thought
the acting was decent and it had some fames faces, so I have to give that
some credit. Other than that it was pretty friggin' boring.
OVERALL
Lame
80s slasher. Barely any deaths, zero
gore, basically just an hour full of tricks pulled on the babysitter.
Don't bother with this.
