Wrong Turn

I was lucky enough to go to a screening for this film a day before its release. I've never been to a screening before, so it was a pretty interesting experience, especially since I really enjoyed the movie. Before I talk more about how I thought, let’s get to the story... A man passing through gets into a small accident with a group of five friends in a remote wooded area in West Virginia. They go for help only to discover a small isolated home in the woods, which they later learn is inhabited by a family of deformed cannibalistic inbreeds.

The plot isn't very original, but it wasn't really meant to be. The movie was obviously meant to play homage to other classic films from the 70's and 80's like The Hills Have Eyes and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I love those films, so naturally I was really into this movie. I'm glad there wasn't much promotion for the film, because it left more to the imagination. I also really liked how the inbreeds faces weren't really shown clearly, cuz that left more to the imagination. The movie had a good amount of gore that we don't see much now-a-days, because people are too afraid of the lame MPAA. There are some decent scares, but none of them really got to me. It also had a lot of tense moments that really kept you on edge.

I was into the movie from start to finish. I enjoyed every bit of it and although the ending was predictable, it was still pretty good. The film had it all - sweet death scenes, hot chicks, suspense, a deformed inbreed family; gotta love it. This is one of the best movies I've seen in a while, especially in theatres, and for that reason I give it an 8-rating.

OVERALL

Check this movie if you want to see a good horror flick that kicks the MPAA in the balls and plays homeage to classics with the same theme. Highly recommended.

I think that this movie Rocks. Those people who say that this movie is like The Hills Have Eyes or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are so unrealistic. I think they got the ideas from those movies but they didn't copy them. If you haven't seen this movie you should really watch it. You'll Love It. and one more thing...SOPHIA BUSH ROCKS !!

Brilliant film, a great homage to TCM and The Hills Have Eyes with kickass gore and killers the only thing which ruins it, is those stupid stunts when they jump out of the tree house onto the trees etc

This movie is horrible and predictable, with bad acting everywhere. Hillbillies have been done to death, and done way better than this piece. Just because we are horror fans doesn't mean we have to settle for crap like this.

NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is scarier than a inbred redneck hillbilly!

One of the better movies to come out since 2000. I enjoyed it very much, and I loved Eliza Dushku's character.

For some time(but I don't exactly know how), I've loved gritty, gory survival movies with deformed freaks, like this film and The Hills Have Eyes. Good stuff, especiall in a remote forest or a desert.
