When approaching a found footage horror film with very minimal casting, I need that “oomph” via a strong storyline, dynamic characters and abbreviated strategy to contain my interest.

A Stranger in the Woods hit every element and then some.  
This Week's Notable Horror: 01/13 - 01/19

We've got another small release week ahead of us, but at least there are some interesting titles in the lot. Namely, PETER PAN'S NEVERLAND NIGHTMARE hit limited theaters today and will only stay in theaters for three days, so if you want to see what a Peter Pan horror movie is like now's your chance, otherwise, you'll have to wait for its inevitable VOD release. Next to that is WOLF MAN from director Leigh Whannell, which lands in theaters this Friday.

So far 2025 is starting out pretty slow, as we have less than a handful of notable new releases in this second week. Specifically, tomorrow sees the VOD release of THE MAN IN THE WHITE VAN, while Friday has the Nick Frost horror comedy GET AWAY debuting on Shudder.
