Bérénice Bejo and Nassim Lyes reprise their roles from the first movie. The movie is currently filming in France. (5/1/26)
Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Crawl, Never Let Go) directs. He replaces Xavier Gens, who helmed the first and was originally going to return for this sequel. It's currently unknown why he was replaced. (2/9/26)
Despite the last update saying filming was aimed to begin in September, Variety reports that because it's still in early development, filming might not start until 2026. (11/14/24)
Actress Bérénice Bejo (Sophia from the first movie) was quoted saying: "In September 2025, we will shoot Under Paris 2 [Sous La Seine 2]. It will not be a simple sequel. It is another film, very different…but still, with a shark." (11/5/24)
Director Xavier Gens returns and was quoted saying the following back in June: "If there is a sequel, it will take place in a Paris that is entirely submerged under water." (11/5/24)
This is a sequel to 2024's French shark flick Under Paris, which debuted on Netflix.
