This Week's Notable Horror: 01/06 - 01/12

So far 2025 is starting out pretty slow, as we have less than a handful of notable new releases in this second week. Specifically, tomorrow sees the VOD release of THE MAN IN THE WHITE VAN, while Friday has the Nick Frost horror comedy GET AWAY debuting on Shudder. Check below for details and release info on all the movies coming out this week.

This Week's Notable Horror: 12/30 - 1/03

We're starting this new year with a whimper (sorry for getting this out late, by the way) with only a couple notable flicks releasing this week. Sadly, next week doesn't look much better. Check below for what's coming out.

NOTE: This is not a comprehensive list (there's simply too much to keep track of), but it is a list of the more notable movies to look out for. If you spot an error or if a movie is missing from the list, contact me.

Listen Carefully (2024)

REVIEWER RATING:
5/10

Imagine the pressure of a newly promoted assistant bank manager, while simultaneously balancing those responsibilities with becoming a brand-new father to a beautiful baby girl. It’s enough to drive a man wild with anxiety, stress and perhaps…paranoia?

This Week's Notable Horror: 12/23 - 12/29

This Christmas week offers more new to watch than last week, but still nowhere near as much as we were once getting. In the bunch is WEREWOLVES, which is rumored to hit PVOD tomorrow, although nothing official has been revealed, so the release may be incorrect. Either way, we'll see tomorrow.

This Week's Notable Horror: 12/16 - 12/22

We've sadly got another slow week ahead of us with just a few new releases. The most notable ones in this lot are the indie horror version of THE LITTLE MERMAID (which releases tomorrow on demand) and the holiday slasher THE NAUGHTY LIST OF MR. SCROOGE, which hits VOD this Friday. Check below for everything else new coming out this week.

The Summer We Died (2024)

REVIEWER RATING:
7/10

If you remember how it felt to be free and independent from authority during your high school summer days, especially when trying to avoid an active serial killer on the prowl…then The Summer We Died is a fun nostalgic flashback.

F'd: Tales from the End Times (2024)

REVIEWER RATING:
8/10

There are a handful of independent filmmakers who consistently impress me, especially after finding out their forecasted budget to create intense and convincing films that appeal to the masses. Ash Hamilton is on that list.

Voice of Shadows (2023)

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

I’m going to approach this review as if I just watched Ari Aster’s Hereditary. Excellent cast with outstanding performances! Beautifully shot gothic horror in an overlay of eeriness and peculiarity. However, so many unanswered questions that never provided a satisfying resolution.

Little Bites (2024)

REVIEWER RATING:
9/10

Mindy (Fox) is a young, widowed mother who spends her days in deep melancholy isolation to protect her 10-year-old daughter Alice from a most fearful monster that is slowly eating Mindy alive. Sounds bizarre, yes…but the intrigue of complexity is mind numbing and exhausting.

The Hostage

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

The Hostage is misleading in title alone. When I hear “hostage”, I immediately think felony crime, negotiators, SWAT team and a whole lot of drama surrounding a poor abducted person of interest.
