SAW VII in 3D?



According to STYD the early announcement of Saw VII may be due to the fact that the producers are aiming to dish out the next installment in 3D, which would require a little more prep-work than normal. Saw V director David Hackl returns behind the camera, while writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are currently outlining the script with hopes to get started on it in a few weeks. The producers are said to be weighing all their 3D options right now. More info on the seventh installment in the series can be found here.

New teaser for Spanish flick [Rec] 2

A new teaser has sprouted online recently, detailing just how action packed and potentially kick ass this sequel may be. Co-writers/directors  Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza return for this second installment, which continues after the events of the first film, as we follow a SWAT team make their way inside the building in an attempt to "control the situation." Ridley Scott returns for ALIEN prequel!!

According to Variety, Ridley Scott will return to the Alien franchise with a new prequel to be written by Jon Spaihts, who pitched the idea to Twentieth Century Fox. Ridley directed the original 1979 horror-scifi flick, but didn't come back for the sequels, which all steered more towards the action-scifi genres. Not much else is known about the project since a script still has to be written.

WICKED LAKE DVD Re-release in October

This 2008 horror film will receive a DVD re-release on October 6th from Shriek Show, a sub-label of Media Blasters.  This 2-disc DVD will include the same special features included on the previous release, but will include the original film soundtrack as the 2nd disc.  Doesn't really make much sense to me, but I guess it'll appeal to those who like to have an accompaning soundtrack with their DVD purchases.

New trailer & clips for gory French flick LADY BLOOD

The French are coming out with yet another gory installment for the genre entitled Lady Blood, a sequel to the fairly unknown 1990 film Baby Blood. The movie opens in France on August 19th, while there's currently no US distribution. D.J. Caruso aboard DEAD SPACE movie!

Variety reports that Electronic Arts and Temple Hill will produce a live-action adaptation of the hit survival sci-fi/horror game Dead Space. D.J. Caruso (Disturbia, Eagle Eye) is attached to direct the project. EA and Caruso are currently talking to a number of potential screenwriters, and once they set a writer and EA signs off on a creative direction, they will auction the property to studios. It's said that it will likely happen in early September.

EA is working on the second and third installments of the game, which was inspired by the sci-fi/horror flick Event Horizon from director Paul W.S. Anderson.

Trailer for THE HILLS RUN RED

Going straight to DVD via Warner Premiere on September 29th is The Hills Run Red a new flick from director Dave Parker and Dark Castle Entertainment. The trailer just premiered online via IGN and you can now check it out below.

The story revolves around a film fanatic whose obsession with finding a complete print of an infamous slasher movie leads him and two friends into the backwoods where it was originally shot. They eventually realize that filming never actually ended and now they must survive a nightmarish onslaught or become part of the movie forever.

David Hackl returns for SAW VII



Variety reports that Saw V director David Hackl will return behind the camera for Saw VII, which is once again currently being written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. A January production start is eyed. David Hackl started off as a production designer for the second, third and fourth films before taking a stab at the director's seat. Scribes Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton joined the Saw family in the fourth installment and haven't left since. Saw VI opens in theaters on October 23rd.

UPDATE: High-res SAW VI poster & trailer NOW ONLINE

And the Saw VI updates just keep rollin' in. UHM just got the high-res version of the new poster for the film, accompanied with news that the teaser trailer will be broadcasted live online at 5PM PST, which gives us 2 1/2 hours before it's released to the public. I've attached an embed of it below, which will be streaming from Justin.tv. Keep your eyes on this page around the determined time to catch the teaser as it streams live.

SAW fans gather 'round & check out the first clip



Those awaiting the release of Saw VI are in luck as the first clip from the film has been released and can be seen below. The film hits theaters on October 23rd.
