| Cold and Dark You may or may not remember actor Luke Goss as the Vampire killin' Nomak from Blade II, well now he returns to the genre with the low-budget direct-to-video Cold and Dark. In this film Luke plays John Dark, a detective who has discovered that the recent rash of murders of criminals lately is the work of his partner, whom he believes is now possessed by a parasite, which gives him abnormal strength at the cost of the thirst for human blood. Hesitant at first, John goes along with his partner when he takes out more criminals, but begins to question his methods when he sees what his partner has become. It doesn't take long before the duo clash in a climatic finish. I'd like to say the above plot is that simple, but it's not. At least thanks to the poor script and choppy editing it's not. The movie is very hard to follow unless you devote all your time and energy to the film. Sadly, I had a hard time doing so. The movie is just too slow, so there are a number of times when I would do something else while it was still playing. Most of the film consists of Luke's character trying to find the truth behind the murders and what's goin' on with his partner. Add a lot of confusing sequences and you've got a low-budget UK flick called Cold and Dark. On the upside, the make-up effects were pretty good (but the CGI was pretty bad), and the flick had a decent amount of blood and gore. It's just too bad that all the action is so far apart from each other. I wanted to like this movie, but I just couldn't. Admittedly the film does have good performances, but that's not enough to back-up the poor script. OVERALL Comments page 0 of 0:
