House on the Edge of the Park

I never bothered to check this movie, because the title and plot reminded me too much of The Last House on the Left, which I didn't really like. I decided to give it a check anyway. What a waste, had there been any close-up shots this could have been a porno. The story is about a couple who invite a couple mechanics to their party after getting their car fixed. At the party everything goes fine until the two guys lose it and hold the group of friends’ hostage. We then see the group beaten, humiliated and some even raped. The movie was an overall bore in my opinion. At least Last House on the Left was more interesting. This movie took place mostly in the one house and we're just watching the group being humiliated and watch as the chicks get stripped naked. Like I said above there's enough nudity for the movie to be close to a porno. I expected the flick to be more graphic in terms of violence and I was thinking there would be more gore or something, but we really don't get anything like that until towards the end, and even then it's just some blood.

There are maybe a couple scenes some people may not be able to stomach, mostly because of what the lead guy (David Hess) does to the girls, but I personally thought Last House on the Left was more graphic. Speaking of that, it seemed like David Hess was basically replying his role from that movie. When I was watching this movie I was thinking to myself that the people in it were some of the stupidest hostages I've ever seen in a movie, especially during one scene when a girl gets a hold of the phone when the captors weren't looking and decides to scream "Hello, police!?" into it. What a dumbass, that's a slap right there. In the end the "twist" made sense of all the silly stuff that went on earlier in the film, although it seemed a little too unrealistic and stupid in my opinion. I decided to give it a 3-rating, because I felt a lot of the scenes to be rather pointless and just a replay of The Last House on the Left, which is a better film in the end. Although the DVD was said to be unrated, I believe there were still a lot of cuts in it.

OVERALL

Boring with an unrealistic twist at the end of the film. Don't bother unless you're a big fan of rap-revenge flicks like Last House on the Left.

Have to full on disagree after seeing the unrated version i would say this is alot more watchable than most of the other films made around this time and ten times better than Cannibal holocaust

When I bought Cannibal Holocaust 25th anniversary edition this came free with it. I started watching it and it was obvious pieces were cut out, I checked it out in IMDB and 11 minutes were cut from this for the UK so I turned it off then and there. I hate watching edited movies!! The BBFC are probably worse than the MPAA. My Cannibal Holocaust is edited but i don't care it's mainly the animal scenes which were cut.

alot of these movies in the late 70's. how come it;s okay to rape and torture a women on camera but when it comes to gore the censors won't allow it. big double standard in hollywood. watch this film at your own risk, you where warned!!
