So I ended up working 5 days on the pre-dressing crew. The sets are very cool. I got to go 600 ft. underground into an old Cold War bomb shelter/military base. In the huge rock tunnels below I helped set up a hydroponic vegetable and plant growing lab. I also helped set up a "seed" vault and did a bit of work on the exterior of the underground bunker, which was built inside of a hug aircraft hangar.
Now apparently the budget is up around 14 million. They are doing half the filming in North Bay and the Rest in Toronto.
I don't think the story has anything to do with "the birds with bugs" though. A colony of people live in an underground shelter as another ice age has swept the globe. The population has been slowly dwindling over the years and now members of the colony begin to go "feral." I wont say more than that because we should all get to enjoy the movie.
It was tons of fun to work on though.

Yup sounds about right. Craziness happens and not 1 day after it's posted here I get a phone call. I'm off to North Bay tomorrow to a Canadian Forces Military base to work in Sets Dept. on this one. I'll let you know how things look.

Hahahah well I'll tell you a couple things. They aren't shooting in Toronto. They are shooting in North Bay, ON. And I don't think the budget is anywhere near 16 million... i don't thinks it's over 5.
