Se7en

1995 brought us the brilliant Se7en, shocking impressionable viewers with its creativity and unique approach to the tired serial killer sub-genre. Budgeted at an estimated $30-million, it went on to gross more than 3-times that and received countless nominations for various awards, and even winning the prestigious Mtv movie award (HA!). With the imaginative mind of David Fincher behind the camera, and a cast of power stars like Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kevin Spacey, how could this movie go wrong? Of course at the time the named stars weren't as popular as they are now, but Spacey did just finish another brilliant film (The Usual Suspects), so he was already on his way.

As if you didn't know, the plot follows a couple detectives as they're hot on a new case involving strange murders that are apparently linked to the biblical seven deadly sins. Knowing this, the detectives attempt to guess the next victim and how he/she will die, and in the process hope to find the madman behind it all. This movie spews all kinds of original from the look, to the story. I also can't forget to mention the crazy ways these victims died. Some of the images are still fresh in my mind, despite not having last seen the movie in months. I remember when I first saw it as a youngin' I had to turn my head a couple times. Over the years they were a few copycats, one such that I can think of off the bat would be 1999's direct-to-video Christopher Lambert starred Resurrection. Of course the copycats would never retain the same tone that Se7en did.

You couldn't guess what would happen next in this film, which would eventually lead to a crazy climax that I'm sure shocked a number of viewers. It took Andrew Kevin Walker a period of two years to write this script and it really pays off; the story of an ambitious young detective and veteran partner, who's close to retiring, and how they eventually get mixed up in the killer's plan, keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. A very unique aspect the film offers is the fact that, although the killer "John Doe" ranks among the highest most sadistic killers in cinematic history (alongside Hannibal Lecter of course) he is never shown doing anything to his victims. I believe this movie deserves a 10-rating, because for a film to be so creative and as interesting as it is just begs for such a rating and I am here to deliver it.

OVERALL

If you haven't seen this movie you should be ashamed of yourself. You don't have to be a genre fan to enjoy this baby
. See it!!!

Just felt the need to point out how painfully wrong "Pablo" is in his review. Se7en is my favorite film of all time and it gets the respect it deserves. To say it's "boring" just numbs my brain to the point of comatose. Clearly there are people with little to no understanding of what a good film is, so let "Pablo" enjoy the next Uwe Boll film and leave this classic to the true fans.

O k, finally, I got to see this film, and let me tell you how boring it is, is not even interesting. Seven is pretty original, when it comes to a decent story, but it doesn't pay off, the whole point of the film, is that a serial killer, is out to kill anyone who commited the seven sins! O k like I said pretty original, but film is very predictable, espeacially the ending. Everyone said they didn't see it coming, but i did, I saw it miles away. So it's boring, predictable and it doesn't offer much to the thriller sub genre, even though is the best one out their. But the film most definitely does not deserve a 10, I am sorry but to get a 10 it has to be least predictable, I personally think is a 7 just like the title....

Well, the first half of the film, was very unpredictable, It was actually doing a awesome job, in introducing the characters, and the mysterious killer! Now as the second half, once the killer reveals himself, I find my self still on the edge up until he starts killing people for their sins. What I hated was that their were so many people out their that are doing the same sin, and he himself is a sinner. Sorry but it didn't explain, and like i said once the second half came it started to become very predictable, boring and I had the ending already predicted! 7out 10....

great film almost perfect 9/10 a must
and as for the end kevin spacey provoked brad pitt to complete the seven deadly sins by killing him therefore taking a murderous WRATH on his enemy
he didnt represent wrath his actions did as almost every other sin
