Sleepless

I could have seen this film sooner, but I was dubious if I should get it or not, because I heard a lot of mixed reviews. I finally decided to get it, because I'm somewhat of a Dario Argento fan. I'm glad I did, because I liked this movie; mainly because of the way the people died and how graphic it was – very cool. The plot is nothing new -- a killer is thought to have been killed off years ago, but due to the recent similar deaths of the past killer's victims, people start to think that there may be a copy-cat on the loose. The movie is rather predictable, but I thought the reason why the killer does what he does was kind of original, yet silly at the same time. Some of the acting could have been better, but the directing by Dario Argento was good as usual. The music from Goblin also blended in well in certain scenes.

I was surprised to see that Dario didn't cast his daughter, Asia, in this film considering she's in most of his past films. The reason for me giving this movie a 7-rating was because I found the film enjoyable and interesting from the beginning. What made it fun to watch was the graphic way the killer killed off his victims. At certain scenes my friend had to turn his head because it was too graphic for him (wuss). Sadly, a real let down in the movie was the ending -- I expected more of a plot twist, but it just ended too predictable. I was rather disappointed by that.

OVERALL

A good serial killer movie. Death scenes were very graphic and cool, but the plot lacked and so did some of the acting. I think you might have to be a Dario Argento fan to enjoy this movie as much as I did.
