This Week's Notable Horror: 01/05 - 01/11

We've entered the first full week of the new year with a handful of notable titles to catch. On the list is PREDATOR: BANDLANDS, which lands on VOD tomorrow, for those of us that might've missed it in theaters. And speaking of theaters, Friday offers the week's biggest release with the killer monkey flick PRIMATE. Either way, you can check below for everything new coming this week.

The R.I.P Man (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

Did y’all enjoy the beginning of Scream, when Drew Barrymore is more or less hunted in her own home by a soon-to-be serial killer? If yes, add The R.I.P. Man to your watch list as the opening anxiety range turns up to maximum intensity.

Erotic Thriller BIGHT Releases Just in Time For Valentine's Day

Scatena & Rosner (S&R Films) has scheduled to release BIGHT on February 10th 2026, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The erotic thriller comes to us from debut writer-director Maiara Walsh, who also stars in the film as Charlie. The movie also stars Cameron Cowperthwaite (Fallout, Dahmer), Mark Hapka (23 Blast, Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial) and Maya Stojan (Castle, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

We Bury the Dead (2024)

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

Daisy Ridley (Rey from Star Wars) stars in this new zombie flick from Aussie director Zak Hilditch (1922, Rattlesnake), which immediately begins with news reports of the U.S. “accidentally” releasing an experimental weapon on Tasmania, causing all sorts of death and mayhem.

Salvation (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
4/10

Salvation is a great example of spotlighting well-known names (Claire Forlani, Skeet Ulrich and Thomas Jane) and then setting them up for failure.

This Week's Notable Horror: 12/22 - 12/28

With Christmas just days away it's no surprise to see that this week's new releases are very scarce. In fact, only a few titles are coming out, namely FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S 2, which lands on PVOD tomorrow, while the ANACONDA remake hits theaters on Thursday, Christmas day. Check below for everything releasing this week.

Dear Jodi (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
4/10

I will bet that most people reading this review have heard of Jodi Arias, but less folks have heard or even remember the name Travis Alexander. Yes? No? Maybe?

This Week's Notable Horror: 12/15 - 12/21

It looks like the busy release weeks may be behind us now, as this week only offers a handful of new (mostly indie) titles. The biggest and most notable release is THE HOUSEMAID starring Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar. You can catch it in theaters this Friday. Check below to see what's coming this week.

Mouseboat Massacre (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
7/10

It’s 1997, and three friends are frantically trying to escape the clutches of a monstrous killer who has already wounded one of them and is approaching with devilish determination in his stance.

This Week's Notable Horror: 12/08 - 12/14

We've got another solid week of new releases with yet another near dozen flicks to catch. Specifically, THE CARPENTER'S SON and KEEPER both hit VOD tomorrow (if you missed'em in theaters). Meanwhile, Wednesday has a unique release, as festival fav. IT ENDS debuts on Letterboxd's new digital rental platform called Video Store.
