How far would you go to convince the love of your life to become the star of your twisted fantasy? For Adrian Tofei, there are no limits.
Romanian filmmaker Adrian is obsessed with Anne Hathaway. And cats. “Girls and cats are so cute”, so why not make a “found footage” film to persuade the famous actress to join the cast of his sadistic film?
Be My Cat is an ode to the popular performer and the filmmaker’s internal psychosis in order to promote his fundamental narcissism. In order to make the movie, Adrian procures three females to lead the brigade in proving to Ms. Hathaway why this project is her ultimate destiny. It will make her a huge star! It will be the essential project in her filmology and will catapult her into extreme stardom! It will also…make her fall in love with Adrian?
Through simple instructions for each actress to adhere to, Adrian’s patience grows thin and his anxiety level escalates into the brink of terror. Each young artist is forced to endure his abusive behavior stirred by his sociopathic behavior. The result becomes unbridled fear which only prompts Adrian to complete his horror-filled frightfest for Anne.
Adrian is so committed to making this low budget, grimy movie for his love that he falls into a pseudo reality that doesn’t include any repercussions or remorse. He is soulless, self-absorbed and egotistical to the breaking point.
There are often moments where I had to remind myself this is only a movie. This is not real. And Adrian is NOT this insane person portrayed on screen who believes his low grade gritty film will actually impact a Hollywood starlet to drop her life and embrace his. Well done, Adrian!
He manages to instill fear and uncertainty from the first actress he directs until the very end which suddenly and abruptly ends without results. It left me wanting more and at the very least…to find out if the film resonates with Anne or flops pathetically on the waste side only to be enjoyed by the deranged horror community.
The world may never know.
