UHM - Review - Cheerleader Camp

After watching the first 10 minutes of the film and witnessing girls take off their tops for no apparent reason, I realized that I've already seen this. After having felt like a dumbass for renting a film twice, I continued to watch it, because I wanted to do a review for the page. I guess that's the price you pay when you've seen as many horror films as I have. You kinda lose track. Anyway, the film is just like any other 80s slasher. Girl goes to camp with a bunch of her peers and they end up dying one by one. The thing I did somewhat like about the film was the ending. It wasn't like many other slashers where the bad guy gets found out and dies or gets caught. It's a little different and more interesting. The film still kinda sucks though.

There are a lot of whacked dream sequences the main girl experiences throughout the film that kinda gives you clues as to what's going on. It's interesting, but some of it resembles Nightmare on Elm Street. There is also a fair amount of humor in it, but what 80s slasher doesn't have a little humor? It really wouldn't be a slasher without tits, humor, and dead bodies. The acting is okay, but the plot itself is pretty weak. So much more could have been done to this film. I decided a 3 would be a good rating because the ending is a little different than other slashers and it's somewhat interesting, if you only see it one time *sigh*..

OVERALL

Same old slasher film straight from the 80s, only this time it has dead cheerleaders. Not really recommended unless you have some extra cash and lots of time on your hands.

This could have been a really good slasher, but instead they decided to make a really dopey comedy out of it. Ruined it completely.

actually ashamed to say i owen this one. got it a eb games when they had buy one get one free. it was the free one of course. i actually liked the coverart on the dvd box. the film is okay, don't expect much. just kinda insert any old seventy actor here movie and kill alot of chicks. nice shots of some female's and a corny story, typical eighties. anything with leif garrett isn't going to be shakespeare. and what the hell was the fat guy doing as a cheerleader?! anyway, a pleasant time waster. watch it mystery science fiction 3000 style and just make fun. a good party film.

Definitely a much better slasher film then the reviewer gives it credit for. The cast works well and it definitely has tongue placed firmly in cheek. 80's slashers are really a genre of there own and you really have enjoy them and have seen them to get the whole genre. There are true clunkers like Graduation Day out there but this isn't one of those.
The plot is used as a device to get to the killings and nudity and they swerve the story with a couple twists and taking it in a different direction.
If you are a fan of this genre give it a look. It fullfills all the 80s slasher staples and the cast isn't bad either.
Anyone who comes into this saying "oh another slasher" probably isn't the person this was marketed for in the first place.

if you havent seen youll feel like you have when watching it
its that unoriginal but then how many 80's slashers are?

I have been trying to find this film everywhere. No place seems to be renting out. I just want to know do they show Betsy Russell's tits.

LOL. While i joked about the Nightmare on Elm Street comparisons as well...i thought this was a decent 80s horror flick, that rates a 5 at least. Cheesy and fun.
