Hemet, or the Landlady Don't Drink Tea (2024)

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

The United States first caught wind of bath salts thanks to the “Miami Cannibal” attack in May 2012 when a man in a zombie-like state, attacked a couple in their home and tried to eat their faces.

Only in Florida, am I right?

This Week's Notable Horror: 08/11 - 08/17

We have another decent batch of new movies to catch this week. Namely, DIE'CED: RELOADED finds its way to VOD tomorrow after a limited theatrical run last week. While on the topic of limited theatrical runs, this Friday sees some notable releases hitting theaters, like the sci-fi horror flick DESCENDENT, the horror comedy JIMMY AND STIGGS and the WITCHBOARD remake.

No Tears in Hell (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
9/10

In October 1996, Russian serial killer Alexander Spesivtsev was apprehended after a plumber contacted the police to get access to his apartment to fix a leak that was damaging the unit below. The cause of this leak: a dismembered, bloody body was found in the bathtub.

Psycho Night (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
1/10

Psycho Night is clearly a low-budget indie film, which does not make it bad. The extremely long and dragged-out scenes that bring nothing to the storyline, the poorly executed special effects and the hammy cast are what makes it ineffective and unwatchable.

This Week's Notable Horror: 08/04 - 08/10

We're just a couple months away from our beloved October and so far August is already starting off strong with a dozen new movies this week. Specifically, we've got a rare Monday release with THE MUTILATOR 2, which quietly landed on Amazon Prime today. Meanwhile, tomorrow sees the PVOD release of ABRAHAM'S BOYS: A DRACULA STORY and JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH for viewers who prefer to skip the theaters and watch at home.

Flesh of the Unforgiven (2024)

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

When the fate of your soul is based on your will to survive, I’m inclined to jump in this game and see who can take down the dreaded death dealer first.

This Week's Notable Horror: 07/28 - 08/03

We're closing the month out on a soft note with only a handful of new horror releases. The most notable being the body horror flick TOGETHER, starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie, which lands in theaters this Wednesday. Check below for everything releasing this week.

The Workout (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
7/10

It’s been a good minute and a half since my last James Cullen Bressack film review. This revelation hit me hard last night after screening The Workout. I’ve really missed this guy’s work, damnit!

A Murder in Oakland: Beauty Is Deadly (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
3/10

This was a tough watch. Not because it was horrifying, adrenaline-fueled or gory (not a drop of blood was spilled in creating this low budget film) but because I’m not entirely sure if murder was the narrative of this would-be true crime film.

Bambi: The Reckoning (2025)

REVIEWER RATING:
8/10

We all know the story of Bambi…the sweet and adorable fawn who grows up in the forest “alone” after he loses his mother to hunters.
