Fright Night
Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

PROJECT DETAILS
- Originally slated for an October 7th 2011 theatrical release.
- Filmed in New Mexico.
- Chris Sarandon (lead vamp from the original) has a brief cameo appearance in the film.
- Dave Franco plays "the arrogant asshole-bully" who's said to be Charley Brewster's "nemesis at school until he runs into Colin [Farrell] who is supposed to be the ultimate bad guy in the movie."
- Sandra Vergara plays Peter Vincent's assistant/girlfriend.
- Imogen Poots plays Charley Brewster's girlfriend.
- Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick-Ass) is playing "Evil Ed", Yelchin’s friend who feels slighted that Charlie has left his nerdy past behind and thus joins the vampire’s coven.
- David Tennant (BBC's Doctor Who) will play the Peter Vincent character, who in this remake is a Las Vegas magician whose show revolves around horror-movie imagery. Vincent claims to be a vampire expert, but when the teen turns to him for assistance, he’s less than helpful.
- Toni Collette plays the boy's mother.
- Colin Farrell plays the vampire neighbor.
- The film will supposedly detail the relationship between Charlie and Evil Ed more than they did in the original, with "what it is to be a real man" and masculinity being a focus in their friendship.
- Actor Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator: Salvation) plays the lead, Charley Brewster.
- Director Craig Gillespie is better known from his comedy efforts as director for flicks like Lars and the Real Girl in 2007 and Mr. Woodcock starring Billy Bob Thornton. He also served as producer and director for the hit Showtime series United States of Tara.
- Writer Marti Noxon (Mad Men) also served as writer/producer for several episodes of the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer series.
- It's said that the studio plans to keep the comedy-horror tone, while modernizing the effects.
- It's rumored that this film may be in 3-D.
- Dreamworks recently purchased the remake rights.
- The obvious remake of the classic 1985 Tom Holland film.

I saw movie. That great! But There no werewolf?
They did a good job with this one, it's very much it's own movie. It's obvious that the cast and crew had a shit ton of fun making it, and as a die hard fan of the original I can safely say that my fears have been put to rest. Kudos to Marti Noxon for writing a great script that could have gone wrong in so many ways. Colin Farrell doesn't try to rehash Sarandon's Jerry, instead he creates a cocky monster who gleefully kills at random. This movie, for me, really expounds upon what made the original so genuinely enjoyable.
Looking forward to adding this to my Fright Night collection.
god man!!!! this movies gana be shit
Why doesn't Hollywood just fucking DIE?! Two of my absolute favorite movies from the 80's are Return of the Living Dead and Fright Night and so far Hollywood hasn't gotten it's fat greedy fingers on either one until now. What's next, is Michael (fagboy) Bay going to direct this shit pile? Maybe they can make it PG-13 too for the kids. I wish Hollywood had a big mouth so I could shit in it!!
yeah that will never happen, because where there can be a story there will be a movie. The day they stop making movies will be the sign of the end of times coming.
This movie looks awful. When is Hollywood going to put down the remake horse?!?
The remake horse unfortunately will never be put down. I think it's because Hollywood has actually become illiterate and none of them know how to read so they just watch other films and remake them. Ignoring all the vast amounts of great untold stories awaiting in the library or even ebooks. Huh? Go figure, anything remotely intelligent is too much of a risk or basically anything that has originality to it.
well they do remakes to target the younger people that may have never herd of the movie. I actually welcome remakes as long as they know what they are doing. Now there are some movies like the God Father that I hope never gets remade because you can't replace Marlon Brando. I'm sure they can but there will never be any one that can even come close to how he portrayed Don Corleone.
No!!!! I always knew someone would eventually butcher this movie. Fright Night was, hands down, the best vampire movie to come out of the 80's. It kept me awake MANY nights as a child. NOBODY can replace the oh-so-sexy Chris Sarandon as Jerry! I had such a huge crush on him, even though he was evil! And who could even touch the role of Evil Ed? I just don't think I can watch this remake.
I've never seen the orignal but based on those trailers this doesn't look that bad, but what I don't get is it says it has werewolves above and I don't see any sign of a werewolf in the trailers.
I have to agree with Big O.
This looks unoriginal. It looks like the same tried and boring formula that's been coming out the last few years.
Skipping this movie will probably be the best thing. Maybe then, if no one watches the crappy remake, they'll get the clue and stop making them.
Probably not.
They probably won't. At least it's rated R.
Huh?!? WTF! Wasn't there a big fuss about Peter Vincent and now that there is a trailer, it doesn't show ANYTHING thing about him??? WTF Hollywood! Some one mentioned this looks like a Distubia with vamp and that is exactly the vibe I'm getting from this movie. Nothing about this movie gives out the feel of the original; not the campiness, not the cheesiness or the fun that made FRIGHT NIGHT so endearing. This version reeks of a turd hill.
Just another useless rehash of a good movie just for cash. What a waste.
fright nights one of my fav films of all time and i totally agree with the majority about the way theyve changed it, but ill still be going to see this. and as for vincent not being in the trailer? he is at around 2.12 where jerry says i can smell your fear hes in it but oh so breifly.
I just wanna say that I love fright night it's defiantly one of my top five best vamp movies ever. And I think farel is actualy a pretty good choice and I'd like to add that any vamp movie that protrays camps as monsters instead of brooding tortured Calvin clien models is one more shovel full of soil to burry that agrovating Hollywood trend. I mean they ARE undead after all. They can't get erections with out pulses anyway.
colin farrell? a vampire? oh, YEAH!!!!!! they couldn't have picked a scarier FAGGOT!!! this flick definitely won't suck, cause, well, farrell doesn't suck cock at all!!!
gay.
how is farrell gay? huh?
Heterosexuals shouldn't speak unless spoken to.
Yeah this guy seems incapable of leaving comments about anything other than sexual preference. I've remarked upon his stupidity before and got a tirade about how I must be in love with Adrian Brody in return, good stuff.
newsflash, when someone says something is gay, it's probably not meant to be taken literally. case in point, colin farrell. the guy's a movie star so he's probably fucked himself a fair share of, khm, ladies, but he's still "gay".
better still, twilight. go ahead, say that whole damn series is not gay.
@ liggett, it went down like that, did it? anyways, I've said it before, I'll say it again, just because someone doesn't like your biased, piss poor review, doesn't make them stupid. it makes them honest and you a weak reviewer. you are self absorbed and your arrogance knows no limits. you and I have nothing to talk about, you stuck-up cunt. so just stick to your ridiculous reviews, and I'll go on making DUMBASS (I know what I’m doing) comments.
btw. none of my (or anyone else’s, for that matter) comments are meant to be taken too seriously. get over yourself.
alright, I believe I've wasted more than enough of my time on your sorry ass. you have a good day now.
U said Faggot... I understand that "gay" is slowly developing the definition of "stupid," but the "F" word is something completely different and negative. U know u were gonna offend peps when u said it. That's all I'm sayin.
Wow, I stand corrected, you've got me all figured out. I suppose I can't call you on your dumb fuck comments without being labeled as arrogant. Yeah that's how it went down... Go back and read that little spat we had shithead. It's not because you disagree with me that I say you are stupid, it's because of how you choose to get your opinion across. Try not sounding like a 12 year old who's only way of describing something is "gay". I know, I'm am a poor reviewer, I judge a movie based upon logical merits as apposed to how much cock it's star sucks, that's me at my self absorbed best right there. Am I wrong for assuming that you're an idiot? You carelessly throw around a word like fagot, in caps lock of course, cuz you're cool like that... and I'm not allowed to point out how stupid that is? Because it most definitely is, whether you mean it literally or not. Being honest doesn't require you to be total douchebag (maybe in your case it does), you gotta grow up some time dude. If you can't say something without coming off like an ignorant homophobic asshole.. best not not to say anything at all.
An R rating!!!!!!!!!
Time to celebrate.
..No, Just no. This shit looks retarded. Mclovin as Evil Ed? WTF!!??? Hell the whole thing just looks like Disturbia with a vampire added to it. Fuck this
Where the hell is Peter Vincent!?
The trailer made me go MEH because it doesn't look like anything special.
to all the naysayers...i was one of you. but i saw a screening of it last wk. honestly was pretty good. only thing diff was that this time around its more about the HORROR then the seduction that the original had. i honestly walked in expecting to hate it but when push came to shove...i couldnt really find anything to complain about. the spirit of the original is still there, they kept some of the big references to the original (hell even chris sarandon has a cameo)
Here you go!

WELL F ME RUN!!! I should have watch it better. Sorry guys.
That's a fan-made trailer using footage from other movies (i.e. The Vampire's Assistant, Disturbia, etc.) So that's why it looks so stupid.
Indeed, and the musical tracks layered over it are random, but it would be cool if the remake featured that old theme.
And where did you see this trailer? Please share it!
Just saw the trailer and...it looks ok but with a PG-13 rateding it mite turn into a big flap with the old 80s fans
( .
hope this doesn't turn out to be a big flop
"McLovin" is Evil Ed...oh this is gonna be good.
I LIKE THE SONG FROM THE ORIGINAL MOVIE! HOPEFULLY THEY BRING THE SONG BACK FOR THIS REMAKE! BUT YEAH! I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE! AMA GO SEE IT FOR SURE....
i looove the original movie. AWESOME
lol im excited about remake..hope its good.

if anyone can make this remake a good film its marti noxon and an awesome cast cant wait for this film saw the originals and really enjoyed them
lookin forward to this !!
i can't wait i can't wait i can't wait!
I Love the Originals of this movie.. my favorite horror.. and now they are remaking it.. sounds exciting but looking at these photos its prob gonna turn out to be a futuristic movie like an Underworld setting.. Kinda lame.. personally dont think they should remake this.. just make a 3rd movie in this time era.. even knowing peter vincent passed away in real life just have another vampire in town nd have the same cast to do it..
....what photos dude? The theater character banner? Where you getting this neo-futuristic stuff? I see no shades of underworld. I think someone's watch is frozen on 4:20
My dad watched the original over and fucking over when i was a kid, yet i don't remember it extremely well. Of course, i'll try to rewatch it before seeing a remake. All i really remember is Evil Ed faking being attacked, only to truly be attacked and received no help from his friends who believed he was trying to scare them again. The whole "boy who cried wolf" thing. I, too, am not sure about Mclovin in a horror movie, but we'll see.
I have an idea, instead of messing with the classics that everyone loved...lets remake the old ones that sucked! Pull the old USA's Up All Night movies, and I'm sure you can find something.
Before I get any hateful comments about having said that, I happened to have loved many of those movies.
This movie isn't that old, so do they REALLY need a remake so soon? Besides, I don't know if they can top it. Plus, I don't know about Christopher Mintz-Plasse in a horror movie...
25 years is quite old for a movie.
maybe in a romantic comedy genre, 25 yrs is considerably old.... But, Horror? Younger than 30yrs is considerably new if you look at the long legacy of the genre! (p.s. it's the only film genre where films from the 30s/ 40s and on are still in semi-regular rotation being regularly re-released and hold relevance)
"You have to have FAITH for this to work on me!"
And Hollywood ain't got it.
