Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courteney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately, Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.

PROJECT DETAILS
- The film is undergoing additional shooting in Michigan to "fine tune" the opening kill sequence (1/31/11).
- Test screenings for the film occured in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this Thursday, January 6th 2011.
- It's said that Signey returns to Woodsboro for her father's funeral.
- Filmed in Michigan. The shoot was originally set to end by Labor Day, but has been extended until September 24th.
- Actress Lucy Hale revealed that she will have a small role in the beginning, although she was originally going to have a much larger role that would see her character return in Scream 5, but couldn't procced with it due to scheduling conflicts.
- It's said that the script is 140 pages long.
- (7/03/10) rumors have been floating around that due to Ehren Kruge's script changes some characters are now "dumbed down" and director Wes Craven doesn't have full control over the script.
- Ehren Kruger (Scream 3, The Ring remake) has been brought on board to polish the script while writer Kevin Williamson works on the second season of the CW's Vampire Diaries.
- Roger Jackson returns to the franchise as the infamous voice behind the mask and phone calls.
- Alison Brie plays "Rebecca", Sidney Prescott's ambitious personal assistant who secretly envies her boss' reluctant fame and fortune.
- Erik Knudsen plays the new Jamie Kennedy-type role, where he's familiar with all the conventions of a horror film and offers the comedy relief.
- Adam Brody plays a cop, who recently graduated from college and was raised on the “CSI” TV series.
- Marley Shelton plays a deputy, who knew Neve Campbell’s character in high school, a role that was originally going to Lake Bell.
- Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) was originally going to play Jill's mother, but left the project due to scheduling conflicts and "script changes".
- Lake Bell was originally going to play a police officer who knew Sidney Prescott from high school, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
- Hayden Panettiere would play the cousin's best friend, a nerdy film geek.
- Rory Culkin would play a potential love interest for the "Jill" character.
- It's said that the casting process is proceeding slowly, because Craven and Dimension are not sending the script to agencies in order to protect its secrecy. With only character descriptions, actors are having a difficult time deciding whether certain roles are for them.
- Craven had this to say about Sidney Prescott after 10 years later: "She has been off by herself and living her own life, and she’s even written a book that has gotten a lot of critical acclaim. She’s kind of put her life back together in the course of these 10 years. But, certainly, there would be no Scream without Ghostface, so she has to confront him again, but now as a woman who has really come out the darkness of her past."
- Wes Craven is signed on to direct the next two sequels.
- It's said that this movie could very well be a standalone film since it contains a beginning, middle and end, and the two follow-up sequels are dependent on the box office performance of the fourth.
- Writer Kevin Williamson debunked a rumor that the Randy (Jamie Kennedy) character would somehow return.
- Franchise creator Wes Craven returns to the director's chair.
- It's rumored that since we will follow a new group of characters that the returning characters would likely be killed off.
- Writer Kevin Williamson has been quoted saying that he would (in one form or another) include some subtle references to the following "manga comics, Asian ghost girl movies, there's some PG-13 horror movies in there, vampire movies, M. Night Shyamalan movies and torture porn movies, even though they've come and gone."
- It's said that this film will introduce a group of new characters that we will follow for the next three films.
- Takes place 10 years after the events of the previous film and back at the town of Woodsboro.
- We will see the return of the Ghostface mask, while there may be another incarnation of it down the road as well.
- The Deputy Dewey character is said to now be a Sheriff.
- It's said that the characters Gale Weathers and Deputy Dewey are now married and have a kid.
- Courteney Cox Arquette returns as reporter "Gale Weathers".
- David Arquette returns as "Deputy Dwight 'Dewey' Riley".
- Neve Campbell returns as "Sidney Prescott".
- Neve Campbell once said that she would not return as Sidney Prescott unless she were in an insane asylum.
- Kevin Williamson will write the script for this film, along with two other sequels, making it a new trilogy to the series.

ive been following the pre-prod. for this movie on UpHorror.com since '06, cant believe we get to see the iconic ghostface on the big screen again. -
Can't wait I'm seeing this on Saturday, I hope this is as good as it looks. I'd better watch the other three so I can remeber everything right.

Screaming 4 it to end. Wes Craven under the mask, wow thats special... Honestly the only decent sequel in recent memory was Final Destination 2. I wish this latest installment of the overly flogged dead horse 'scream 4' would be titled yawn.....
I think #4 is going to be awesome. Because so many of us were little or teens when Scream came out we kinda grew up watching the first 3. And those were really only a few of some of the decent modern horror films. So I'm excited to go see this on next Friday, it will be a fun time like when everyone went to watch the old ones.
I think Erik Knudsen or Rory Culkin might be Ghostface in this one because they seem to be the horror movie/nerdy people like Randy Meeks in the others and that hasn't happened in the other Screams. Who do you all think Ghostface is?
I was so excited when this trailer came out. I think this fourth film will kick ass. I Loved the first two, 3 was alright but I think this one will take the cake. It takes place in the hometown in the original and goes back to its roots of the killer stalking in town. No movie studio crap and I love how this one pokes fun of the modern day remakes. Ha Ha ha.
ah yes. i remember going over to my friends house to watch scream 2 when it came out on VHS because my parents told me i was to young to watch it. even though i closed my eyes during the scary parts( i was 7 or 8.) i still loved it. and I have fallen in love with horror movies ever since. now here i am thinking the screams were over and i was never going to get another sequel...fucking thank you kevin williamson for bring us another scream. fucking A..im so excited i could jizz.

I'm totally excited to see this, but I do agree that they are getting a little too cliched with it.
They waited to long to make this movie, alot of people are thinking its going to suck. I loved the scream movies! but dunno how this one is gonna be.
Cant wait... this is definatley the most ive looked forward to seeing a movie... loved the originals that i grew up watching.. so stoked it was brought back

Have to say you're in the minority here. I've been waiting for this sequel for years and so have a lot of other people. If you don't like the movie then why are you wasting your time posting about it.
Sure people have been waiting but they just waited to long to make this movie i think. I am one of the people who think it will turn out good but alot of my friends think its gonna suck either way, lets just wait for it to come out k?

If they really wanted to give us something new and make the old series relevent the will tie the new killer into the old ones. Wes is a genius and we are all gonna love the ending. if anything in his movies the endings are the strongest point. We are all gonna watch the old ones and then see this followed by again watching the old ones again. Kevins a great writer so we will all enjoy this
Rated R? We should get some good scenes.
At this point in time the Killer is going to be dewey. Think about it. He has been attacked multiple times and lived. After his sister was killed for sid related reasons he wants revenge. maybe dewey has been in on it sense the first and he will be reveled in the very last movie
I can't wait either. The SCREAM movies were always one of my tops regardless of the haters so yea...after trailer two......YEA! Hayden and Emma....SO need to hear them SCREAM! Can't wait for SCREAM 4. I just don't know who the killer can be. That alone has me wanting to see this film and I LOVE RUNNING SCENES.

Wes Craven said he wouldn't come back if the script for this wasn't as good as the first one, he came back so I have high hopes for this. Long live Ghostface!

the reason sequels are weeker is because nothing should be better then the first the first is supposed to keep you the sequels are supposed to just keep it going. yeah the sequels of saw were less atrractive as they went but it's wrong for you to say you will pass on these. just like the original screams it rejuvinated the horror genre and now that the horror genre has lagged and become dull and remakes, it will rejuvinate it once more. no one should compare this to the originals or to any other movies. If you go in to it comparing them to saw your gonna think it sucks but with an open mind you will like it
Not discounting what you said but the biggest problem with the saw series was the changing of writers/directors throughout the series. Scream on the other hand has managed to hold on to the same director for all of them and the same writer for all but the 3rd... I believe that the writing is what has made these movies what they are.
The plot sounds good I can't wait for this.

This movie shouldn't be too bad but they gave away there will be another parts to it so ending should end like to be continue type thing , So hopefully killings will be more brutal and effect's should be great LOOK FORWARD 2 IT HURRY UP ALREADY CAN'T WAIT
I'm glad to see that there bringing back the three key charectors and there changing the rules of how to survive a horror movie
but i don't see myself loving this movie like i did the first film
but i'll be there money in one hand and crossing my fingers with the other
